When I worked at Plant Growth Facilities at Colorado State University I got to work with a wide range of environments including greenhouses, growth chambers, biosafety level 2 facilities, waste remediation wetlands, and lab spaces. Part of my job was to diagnose pest and disease issues, and use integrated pest management to keep research experiments alive. We would use beneficial organisms like nematodes, parasitic wasps, and entomopathogenic fungi to control pests and disease. I monitored the progress of these soldiers in our plant health battles, and I was endlessly fascinated by the interesting things I would find throughout the day.
Soon I was taking a look at everything I could under the microscope and eventually made prints that were displayed at the Downtown Artery, Wild Boar Cafe, and SECCA.
